PERIOD INSTRUMENT COLLECTION

To help in the study of the Classical and Romantic repertoire on the instruments of the time, the Abbaye aux Dames has undertaken a programme of instrument acquisition since its creation in 1996. It currently owns a considerable number of historical bows, 2 historical pianos, timpani and a full compliment of Romantic and Classical wind instruments. Instruments are made available to students on the Advanced Studies Programme who are also able to use them for engagements outside their activities in Saintes.


MUSIC LIBRARY

The Abbaye aux Dames owns a considerable collection of printed music, and this collection is available to the students. The collection includes theoretical treatises as well as a vast selection of Classical and Romantic period works for orchestra, chamber music, etc. A list of these works is available in PDF format.
