Spotlight on young artists!

Presentation 

The programme « Spotlight on young artists! » allows each year young musicians to perform chamber music concerts in the Festival de Saintes.

Each ensemble is invited to give 2 concerts in churches of the Saintonge region. Each concert is paid 187,50€ gross per musician. The Abbaye aux Dames also takes charge of the transport and rooming of the musicians. 
In 2010, the Festival de Saintes will run from July 9th to 18th.

Eligibility 

-         chamber music groups from trios to octets

-         chamber music groups existing for at least one year

Important: Priority is given to ensembles that include at least one former student from the formation supérieure or JOA. Applications from new ensembles or ensembles newly formed for the occasion can be accepted if they come from musicians from the formation supérieure and have been validated by the educational team of the Abbaye aux Dames.

Repertoire 

The programme « Spotlight on young artists! » is intended for chamber music groups playing on period instruments, a classical or romantic repertoire. Exceptions can however be made depending on the quality of the artistic propositions and the applicants.

As a general rule, Stephan Maciejewski, artistic director of the festival, gives preference to a programme composed of rare and original works.

The duration of the programme must be 1 hour, more or less.

How to apply? 

The application form attached must be sent back by e-mail, mail or fax to the Abbaye aux Dames before October 15th 2009.

A recording (CD or minidisc) of at least a part of the programme or representative of the work of the ensemble is required before December 1st 2009.

Results will be sent by the end of January 2010.

The choice of the groups results from the discussion between the artistic director and education manager.
