Bach
Cantata BWV 8, BWV 78 and BWV 99

Gli Angeli Genève
Stephan McLeod, conductor

The three cantata featured in this programme are part of the corpus of more than 200 religious cantata composed by Bach to honour his professional commitments. Johann Sebastian Bach was employed as a cantor in Leipzig from 1723 to 1750. At the beginning of his time as cantor, he had to compose cantata for every Sunday and religious festival.

These works will be interpreted by the musicians of Gli Angeli, who have taken a few years to work their way through all of Bach’s cantata in Geneva.
