We sometimes tend to forget the great choral masterpieces of the great German symphonists Mendelssohn, Bruckner and Brahms. And yet! In the case of Brahms, more than half of his work was dedicated to the human voice, including a number of treasures that do not in any way pale next to his most beautiful pages of orchestra or chamber music.

The only advice we can offer festival-goers experienced in the pureness and expressiveness of baroque song is to allow themselves to be seduced by the radically different experience, both intense and lyrical, of the romantic choral repertoire.
