While he is now somewhat forgotten outside specialist circles, Galuppi was, in his time, more famous than Vivaldi. A great opera master, admired throughout Europe and by many of his peers, it is thus only fitting that we place him between Händel and Vivaldi, at the heart of this programme featuring masterpieces of the sacred repertoire, interpreted by Les Arts Florissants under the direction of Paul Agnew.
